On my way out to run errands this morning I stopped in the park and went for a little walk. I felt a bit nervous being alone in the winterwoods; all I had in my pocket was a Swiss Army knife and a skein of embroidery floss and a ponytail holder, so I didn't stay very long.

what?? you didn't build a treehouse with those supplies?? come on! you. are. ALICIA!! xoxo

Gorgeous forest!

Looks like snow any minute!

What a magical morning!

The forest primeval... parks don't look like that around here... looks like you were thousands of miles away from civilization...

Well... if there is one person I know who can make the most of very little, it's you, Alicia. For example: a quick stroll through a park yields a photo essay... a nature wonderland for all to enjoy!

Beautiful! It's that same fogginess here today .. if only it was just outside and not in my head as well.

I love out city!!!!

How lovely that you see such beauty around you... and share it with us!

And a camera :-)

delightful post!

How do you make it look so magical??! I'm from the PNW, and I don't ever remember such fairybook moments before my eyes. Maybe it's your camera magic, or maybe it's your artist's eye....or, maybe I'm just homesick deep down. ;-) ha ha!

Either way -- FABULOUS, amazing and wonderful photos today. You send out the very best moments of the Pacific Northwest: fog and moss and light hitting trunks, branches & leaves just right. Makes me want something warm to drink. Mmmmmmmmmm.....

Mist makes everything so beautiful.

Interesting....makes me think of a red cape and basket.

Looks like scenes straight from a book starting with "Once upon a Time". Very magical and much appreciated by those of us in the land of eternal sunshine. A very nice treat!

Enchanted is the perfect word.

I too love woods.but not on my own - too vivid an imagination!! Happy Christmas to you both.

"If you go down to the woods today, you're in for a big surprise"... I would love being surrounded by such beauty. Thanks for sharing!!

You were brave - it looks enchanting and just a little spooky! You need a fierce corgi with you, next time you go walking in the woods on your own. I never venture far off the beaten track without the dogs - the woods on your walk were spectacular this morning though. It's raining here in Winchester and there's snow on its way - hopefully!

I too take inventory when I'm thinking like that... GORgeous photos!!! what a magical walk, even if it was short!

Oh, Alicia -- you never fail to make me smile. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos *and* the chuckle at the end.

You go, with your embroidery floss! ;)

I hope you and Andy are having a peaceful holiday season, dear one.

gorgeous winterwood! I'd love to come and take a walk!

"and a skein of embroidery floss" - I love it!!! Thank you for sharing your life with us every day. You are such a beautiful writer!

Hmmmm. . . . . methinks Hansel and Gretel are just around the corner :)

I must bring my camera next time I go. I could have gotten great frosty pics this morning but all I took with me was bear spray (almost typed beer spray;)). Great pics!
