We had a wonderful long weekend. It was our thirteenth anniversary yesterday, and Andy took a few days off, which was fantastic. We mostly moved stuff out of the studio (it's now all over the house, agh) and repainted it in preparation for the flooring to go in on Friday. This room re-do is going to be a project that probably takes a lot longer than we thought (or I, at least, thought). There will be six (one of them gigantic) pieces of furniture that will have to be put together next week, after the floor is finished, and then I'll start slowly moving stuff back in. The new furniture will be all about storage — cabinets, drawers, shelves, more cabinets, more drawers, more shelves.

Storage is the greatest. I twitch with glee just contemplating it. It's kind of hard to figure out what you need or how it's going to work. I just figure: drawers, and doors. I'm kind of over the open shelving thing. There will be some, but hopefully not too much.

Since it is so messy here right now, we tried to get away from the house as much as possible: pool, farm, Avett Brothers show, IKEA (natch), dinner out for anniversary. We saw Scotty (I call him Scotty) Avett by the back gate as we were leaving the show on Saturday night, and we called to him (he was only about twenty feet away): "Thank you Scotty!!! We love you guys! Come back again, okay?" And Scotty said, "Thank you, thank you very much," very sincerely, and waved. That was extremely exciting. Love those Avett boys!!! I thought the show was too short, personally, but seeing Scotty by the back gate made up for it. I just love them so much that I think they should play for four or five hours. And also play all my favorite songs. And also read my mind to know what all my favorite songs are. That's all.

I hear Andy and Clover Meadow waking up upstairs. Time to get to work. I think I might repaint the trim today.

What a wonderful, airy, light and sunny (when the sun cooperates here in Portland) studio space you have... It'll be fun to see the finished project. I love seeing others' creative spaces.

I love the Avett Brothers, and I love that new blue color!!

I love the Avetts, too. Wish they would play up here in Ontario. Scotty is so cute!

Lovely blue. I, too, love daydreaming about storage space for crafting/sewing stuff. Why is that so fun?

HUGE Avett brothers fans around here! :)

I've seen them a few times already and am ready to see them again in October. Little jealous that you got to speak with one of them. ;) Shame is my all-time favorite of theirs.

Great color, too by the way!

Happy anniversary! Sounds like a wonderful time. You should have invited Scotty out with you two. Love the calm Buxton Blue. Very much.

i am so looking forward to being inspired by your new work space! and happy anniversary...

I love the new color, it will be a great room for you to work in when it is finished.

You just yelled at Scott??? I would have run over and laid him out on the ground with hugs and kisses, lol.I go back and forth on which I love more...him or Seth. Right now I'm on a Seth kick big time though. Planning to hopefully see them for the second time Halloween here! YAY. Missed them last year. I LOVE the color of the walls. I've hated blue for years and now suddenly like it alot. can't wait to see the results.

Happy Anniversary!

Love blue color you've chosen, it looks just right in that setting. Your room looks ginormous.

oooh, I love the Buxton Blue, Alicia! I can't wait to watch it come together!

And I am so envious of your concert experience! I love the Avett Bros but haven't ever seen 'em live. Someday, someday.

by the by, I highly recommend checking out a young woman by the name of Sayde Price. My mom introduced me to her, and she is INCREDIBLE, a similar kind of sound to Avett Bros, Joe Purdy, that sort of thing. I think you'd really like her!

Swoon! I love to listen to Jenny in the Summertime...
And every one of their other songs, too!
I hope you share plenty of photos of all the goings-on of your studio!!!
Happy Anniversary, you cuties.

Happy Anniversary ♥
Your weekend sounds wonderful!
Looking forward to seeing your 'new' Studio space :-)

What a great way to spend the weekend - I can't wait to see how this studio turns out. That is such a lovely blue. Yellow & Gray would go nicely w/ it.

*Serious* crush on Scotty. *Serious*.

He makes me weak in the knees.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy belated Anniversary!! Ours is the 22nd of July and I often get made fun of from my husband because I always think its the 23rd (really what husband needs to correct their wife on their anniversary date). I really ♥love♥ the blue you picked out - can't wait to see the whole room put back together :)!!! I need to check out the Avett Brothers.

Happy happy anniversary! Pretty shade of blue-I love the light in that studio of yours as well as the view!
One can never have enough cabinets or shelves-awesome!

I've never heard of the Avett brothers...i'll have to check them out. Happy anniversary and i love that blue!

What a lovely, subtle blue. I only choose wall colors from the BM historical color collection now. Somehow choosing from 200 or so great colors seems so much less intimidating than picking through the full fan deck!

Love the blue and admire your gumption in doing the painting yourself -- not so fun! Can't wait to see the finale.
And aren't the Avett Bros. the cutest guys ever -- lucky you!? I hadn't heard of them until I saw them on Austin City Limits a few months ago. Love their lyrics -- simple & real -- kind of remind me of The Band.
Oh, and loving the adorable dresses!
