Thank you ever so much for all of your kind words and all of the emails about the book! Jeesh, I am overwhelmed, and truly appreciate every single sweet message that has come my way the past couple of days — you guys really know how to make someone's day. It's been a really fun time, and I am crazy busy! Today I have got to get to the grocery store and do some chores around here. If you're in town, please try to stop by my first book signing this weekend:

Sunday, November 16, 2008
7:30 p.m.
Powell's Books
1005 W. Burnside
Portland, Oregon

Ooo yipes, and I have to finish the skirt I'll be wearing! Keep forgetting about that.

Please come! If you can't, don't worry — I just saw that you can actually order a signed copy from Powell's. And I have signed bookplates for anyone who wants one (or as many as you'd like). Just send me a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) and I'll sign some bookplates and send them back to you. If you're overseas, just send me a self-addressed envelope and I'll put some U.S. postage on it for you. Let me know how many bookplates you need, and if they should be written out for any special people, and I'll get them out pronto. My snail-mail address is here:-)

Thank you for making me feel so special this week. It's really, really nice. Thank you! Back soon. . . .

im getting the book for my birthday... 3 more weeks. TORTURE!! i will be sending for some book plates sooner though. congrats on all of your success.

My book arrived yesterday. It's so lovely !

wish i could come :o)
still waiting for my book to come from amazon is teasing me

Best wishes and enjoy your first of many to come

I'm so happy for you! I received my notice from Amazon this morning that your book is on the way to my house! I can't wait! I'm really hoping to come to Seattle to see you if I can find someone to go with me. None of my friends are 'crafty' so if you see a woman dragging her husband along you'll know it's me! LoL!

I went to the bookstore yesterday just to take a peek. Money's tight and I wasn't going to buy. I opened up to the dedication page and almost lost it. I hurried and checked out...hmmm yes, I bought it. And I didn't become a blubbering idiot...in the store, anyway.
So if you're wondering if we'll like it..."You had us from Hello!"

my book arrived yesterday- it was so exciting to tear open the package. Mazel Tov! It's beautiful and wonderful. The story about your dad's special pillowcase- so beautiful, thank you for sharing it.
How cool of you to offer a bookplate!

I just pulled my book out of the cold, damp Amazon box! I am going to snuggle up with it tonight and see what I get to make next! It looks very pretty, and the little girl on the cover looks like a doll! -- Michele

Oh, Alicia, I wish I could come to Portland and buy the book and have you sign it. I am so happy for you. What a wonderful time in your life....you will always remember these special moments. You are brilliant. Congrats and enjoy!

Very nice for you to do - the bookplates. A special and gracious touch. I'll be asking for a couple. Thank you!

OH, how I wish I could come to your book signing and applaud for you in person! You are so lovely, the way you share yourself with us.
Hugs and kisses, Cheryl in IN

I'm so bummed I won't be able to make it up for any of your signings! I really wanted to (Ooh... Powell's! You're Big Time now, lady!) but I am traveling on all of your signing dates. Damn.

I will certainly send off for a bookplate, though -- not the same as meeting your sweet self in person, but still... it's like a brush with celebrity!

Wow~ My book arrived yesterday Alicia and it's so beyond great! I loved everything. Not a "craft" book, but an idea book. I loved each and every project. Brilliant! Thank you. I want a book plate! Wish I was going to be in Portland this weekend, Kate

Oh, neat! I'll try to sneak upstairs from the green room for a few minutes (I'll be one of the ones selling books down there on the first floor).

yay for signed book plates!

Wooo and a hooo, I just got my copy of your book in the mail today. I have to say out of all the craft books I have purchased yours and Anna Maria Horner's are the most special. Because I read your blogs every day and it feels like buying a book written by some one I know. Anyways I am enjoying the book very much and have just barely poked my nose between the pages for a whiff of new book smell and sighing over pretty pictures.

I just bought your book today and enjoyed a nice relaxing lunch hour browsing through it. My favorite projects are the baby clothe quilt, the farmboy photo frame, and the heart garland. I love your writing and the photographs! What a wonderful book!

I wish I was able to visit you during book signing in Portland but I'm in Canada! A signed bookplate is such a generous offer - thank you Alicia. The next best thing to being there :-)
Wishing you a wonderful book signing day!

are you kidding? you always sound a little surprised that we're all so smitten with you.

p.s. i'm a little crestfallen that you arent doing a full on book tour that would have taken you through Charlotte, NC

You are a doll! Truly! Wish I could give you a big hug!!

The minute I heard about the book, it was ordered at Amazon. I've been waiting!

Congrats on the book, I can't wait to get my hands on one - and all the best for your first signing - how very exciting!!!

Your first book signing, how exciting! I envy those who get to go. I can't wait to get my own copy!

A lovely offer for the bookplates. Thank you. I'm sure I can find a way to pay return postage envelope from Canada- did it years ago, and will take you up on that. Cheers!

Hurray for bookplates! Thanks, Alicia. It is so lovely of you to do that. Great for the books we ordered for Christmas gifts! Thank you so much! xo Cat ^..^
