We went up early and snuggled in. Making oatmeal for breakfast right now. Hoping for a quiet day. I have a million little loose ends I need to get organized so we'll see. I'm never particularly good at tying up loose ends. I spend a bunch of time running around in figure eights trying to clutch at the flailing loose ends, and then suddenly I find that I'm . . . knitting. Er.
Not even a metaphor. Actually knitting.

How lovely that you're knitting. You seem to get very much accomplished, if you ask me!

Your house reminds me so much of my grandparents with those glass door knobs for starters. I'm glad you had a cozy evening and morning. Good luck with today! I'm home with the flu so your doing better than me already.

so feeling the same way about my motivation lately! i've started so many little projects lately...and finished not too many of them! i'm tempted to teach my husband to knit just so i'll get something accomplished ;)

I cried "uncle" yesterday in the middle of my precious workday and resorted to some knitting. I thought of it as mental lubrication. It worked.

I think the blustery day and probably night has come my way. I'm so longing for spring, but I have a while to wait.
So funny about the figure 8's. I do the same.

Knitting is a stress reliever... makes sense :) Good luck getting everything finished :)

Knitting - always my number one excuse, or diversion, or comfort!
Posted by: Tracy | February 07, 2012 at 09:25 AM
Knitting is both a diversion and, technically, an excellent way to knit up loose ends!;)

I reckon you're very good at tying up the ends - just look at that lovely latest quilt, all knotted together! I know your sort of day though - blame the wind - it's unsettling. Working with youngsters (human), and with young animals is always worse when it's windy & it's the same when trying to knuckle down and get on with stuff. I bet you have loads of projects that you should be doing and your knitting is a displacement activity - putting off the inevitable, although it'll be something you're actually looking forward to. I should be packing & organising for a trip to see my Dad who is having an op - I can only think about sitting down and finishing my Gypsy Rose crochet blanket! Happy knitting - enjoy!

If only we actually could knit or stitch our loose ends... what a WIP that would be!

Oh, how I can so relate to this post! Have fun with your yarn. *sigh* :)

In the end it all seems to fall into place or fall away altogether--doesn't it? Knitting is a fabulous response to stress and feeling overwhelmed. It's so good for your heart--and you do have such a good heart.
:} Be brave. Tough times don't last--but tough people certainly do.

I do the same thing! Run circles in my head and then decide that knitting is probably what I should really be doing....dang!

behold the evil power of knitting! completely designed to prevent any item on your to-do list from being done!

Knitting makes everything better, one loose end at a time!

I agree that the blustery wind is unsettling. I feel there is no where to go to hide from it. Our old house has loose storm windows (apparently not doing a very good job) and therefore, they are very noisy in this wind...our dogs don't care for the wind too much, either. Knitting, quilting or reading always make life better... Good luck with the loose ends; hope they don't blow away!

Sometimes knitting helps me sort other priorities into a freshly energized new life pattern while I follow an established knitting pattern that is already set for progress and success! <3

No better way to tie up loose ends, than knit them, I say :)

blustery is such an appropriate word isn't it? and makes the scary windy sounds sound better. love your door with all those little wallpaper bits and i had a purse so much like that one! mine had a bit of tooling on it...hmmm....wonder where it is? hoping you tie up those ends...but if you don't, they'll wait.

I do the same (knit when I should be tending to other things....)

Oh my goodness, yes. As we snuggled in last night I told my husband we are so lucky to have our sturdy little house to keep us warm and cozy in this gusting wind, if it doesn't blow away by morning!
