Conjuring spring from wool thread right here, in front of the heater with very hot coffee. It's so cold today. Wooly flowers, possibly a metaphor for Oregon April.
(Update: Thanks for the inquiries about this piece — as mentioned, it is a crewel sampler I am designing which we will offer as a kit as soon as I can get it all finished. I'll keep you posted. Thanks!)

Lovely!

I wasn't really interested in doing an alphabet sampler...until you posted this picture. Wow! So pretty! And, looks so fun to make.

Gorgeous!! It's not much better in New York, I'm cuddled up on the couch under a blanket.

You're really inspiring me with this sampler! I've dabbled in embroidery of many kinds, but it never won me over in the same way as sewing and knitting. However, I'm reminded of this fabulous book on crewel-work I found in a thrift store and gave to my sister. I wonder if she would lend it to me...

Looks gorgeous - I´m not sure I could pull that off but I´d like to try! :-)

I can't wait to see the finished piece...this is beautiful! (And I'm with you on the cold...Seattle sucks right now.)

This is unbelievably beautiful! I just took up knitting as my new "portable" craft but may need to return to embroidery!

It looks simply amazing. The last crewelwork I did was when I was a child and my Dad brought home some pillow kits for me to work on. I remember one had a forest mushroom design on it. Alas, my non sentimental Mother threw them out years ago after redoing her living room.

Alicia - you are awesome! You never fail to take my breath away with ALL your beautiful creations. Thank you for brightening up this rainy Tuesday.

This is so cute...I've an idea to do something like this but using thrift-store quilting hoops. Cut a huge swath of fabric, stick it in the hoop, then embroider away a letter in each. My idea is to the word Sewing or Yarn U. And then stick up all in my studio wall.

After seeing this I am totally psyched to learn embroidery. The sampler is absolutely beautiful. Another hobby to add to the list. Your blog has been a huge inspiration for learning to knit and crochet. Do you have any recommendations for books on learning crewel-work/embroidery?

It's 70 degrees and overcast - lots of hail very early this morning.
Your work is exquisite!

Loving the R! It's *gorgeous* out here in Corbett today, sunny and pretty. Not warm yet, but I expect warmth soon. I've got some flowers that need photographing outside.. :-)

Lovely alphabet! I also want to know if you're collecting book titles for your summer reading. If so, I have at least 3 to recommend. "I Love You Like a Tomato" by Marie Giordano..."Snow Flower and the
Secret Fan" Lisa See & "The Samarai's Garden" Gail Tsukiyama. If you want a brief description of them, send an email. I KNOW you're curious about "I Love You Like A Tomato"!! Tina

You do such lovely work. Are there any books that you'd recommend for beginners? I'm interested in your book but am concerned because I've never really embroidered before (at least since I was a kid).
