It was so pretty at the farm this weekend. I love the colors there.
It was so nice to get outside in the sunshine. Several neighbors have outdoor remodeling projects going on in our neighborhood right now so it was also nice to get away from the sound of jackhammers, diesel trucks, piles of gravel, backhoe thingies, nail pounding, saws, guys with toolbelts and wheelbarrows, and the general buzz of change.
We (and our other neighbor) have to have our party sewer disconnected and reconnected to the public sewer this summer, too, so it's about to get a lot worse. Agh. [Pool pass pool pass pool pass.]
Reds and blues. Summer colors.
When we got home, Andy barbecued and I made a raspberry clafoutis. It was finally quiet by dinnertime. Yay.

I love the boldness of summer; the heat, the colors...
Hugs from the Sunshine state!

Looks like a gorgeous day, but I think that clafoutis is my favorite!

the clafoutis is beautiful - we sometimes make them with pears. You live in such an extraordinarily gorgeous state! The mountain top in the background, the brilliant blue hydrangea against the barn. I wish that I had the words to convey to you how much you inspire my work! Again, thank you!

the last few posts have been lovely! i am so glad that summer has finally come to portland. even before today's post, i was thinking about you and your clafoutis, and had decided to make one this week. (i was looking into old posts to find your recipe for ice cream that calls for sweetened condensed milk. it's not one's classic recipe, but i think it's delicious. i make your mint-chocolate chip, but i have adapted it to make fruit ice creams too. this week will be with nectarines from harry and david.) xoxo

Our hydrangeas are in full bloom here in the northeast. There is something in the soil in Dorchester MA that is perfect for the plant. Nearly every yard as a heaping bush of blue blue flowers (the double blue was intentional:))
Your country trip looked fun-it's nice to have an escape from the chores and noise of home.

Those photos make me so happy! :)
And I know just what you mean about construction -- last summer there was a big mega huge hail storm and everyone's roof in the whole neighborhood had to be replaced. I was sooooo glad when that was all done!

Oh my goodness, I want to come eat at your house!! That sounds so yummy. :)

That's funny. I was just admiring the beauty of the farm colors myself a few days ago. The lines of the row crops and their colors even inspired me to sew and make an agriculturally-inspired skirt that I just finished.

As someone who is totally into color and especially red right now, I very much enjoyed your post. I love the red van with the purplely, white-capped mountain and all of the greens! At first when you said "party sewer", for a millisecond I thought "Oh yay, a party!", then I came to my senses "No, no party silly, she means annoying but necessary house construction." I was up too late last night. Beautiful pictures, thanks for the splashes of color today!

A couple days ago I looked up your clafoutis recipe from a couple years ago. I used it for some ripe nectarines and blackberries - yum - simple and delicious. Glad I remembered you had posted it - for cherries that time I think.

I have some blueberries to use and was just thinking about a clafoutis and wondered what you used for a recipe last summer. How timely!

What lovely photos! Especially the one with the mountain in the background - wow!
I made several clafoutis when you posted the recipe last year and they were divine. Of course, then I went around telling everyone about these wonderful clafoutis, pronouncing it exactly as an American would until a chef set me straight. Oops. I thought it was fabulous that something so delicious had such a funny name, so we still call it cla-fow-tiss to amuse ourselves in private.

Is that snow? or are my eyes playing tricks on me? I don't like summer much is too hot here in Texas.
