We are utterly overwhelmed by your well-wishes: "Thank you" fails, and seems like something you should say when someone hands you a cup of coffee, not sends you a thousand little flowers from all around the world. I saw a meadow covered in blossoms that were your comments, and started weaving a daisy chain of your kind, kind words, which left us, quite honestly, in a state of humbled wonderment, and sincere gratitude. I had a good cry over it all (so much kindness, so much . . . confidence), and then, quite amazed by, you know, life in general, I sat by the window and giggled: What a wonderful, wonderful world.

What a wonderful community you've helped create, Alicia! I am so happy for you!

Only just starting on this terrifying journey of things not going quite how we thought they'd always go and I couldn't be happier to see that your journey is ending this way. And the loveliest little nursery to boot! So excited to see your tiny granny squares will be swaddling a tiny little one.

I wasn't in time to comment on the original post, but I don't think it's too late to tell you that I was thrilled to hear your news, and then I was thrilled for the little person that ends up coming to be a part of your family. Keeping my fingers crossed that the process goes smoothly, and you soon have your little bundle of joy!
xoxo

It's all just so sweet and wonderful, how could we help ourselves?

It is truly and amazing world. I remember well the awe I felt when I met each of my babies for the first time. I felt so honoured and awed that these beautiful boys were being entrusted to me, to love and raise. Now I'm in awe of my grown sons who are raising their own children! "you grew not beneath my heart, but in it", part of a poem that has meant a lot to this adoptive mum.

I am so happy for you - what a lucky little girl x

It's funny how much I can like someone I don't truly know--YOU--similar, perhaps, to the affection felt for favorite authors...yet somehow more personal because of what and how you share. Many times I had wondered about your parenting interest--and then chastised myself for projecting my own priorities onto someone whose path I don't walk. I'm so glad you plan to walk this particular bend in the path...not that I believe everyone "should"--whole lives come in many forms. But, I still can't believe the richness my child has brought to all aspects of my life, late as she came into it. What will that mean for someone already as sensitive and deep-thinking as you? Parenting plucks such a richly creative chord.

I just read your baby post today and I've come back to read it four extra times. I'm just so happy for all of you! Take good care of yourself in these days of waiting - these days before your daughter's arrival are so sacred...take extra good care of each other! xo

I was gone for one day and
what a day to be away from
a computer.
This is happy, happy news :)
I am sure that Clover Meadow,
Violet and Bee will welcome
your new baby. Our pets were
just as excited as we were
about welcoming our new baby.
Our miniature schnauzer who
was two on the day she was
born, shared a birthday with
our baby girl.
Congratulations Andy and Alicia!

Hello!
I know you don't know me, and have probably never heard from me, but I have been following your blog for over the past two years! In fact, you were the inspiration for me to create my own blog, it is nothing like yours, but I admire you- your so inspirational, and just coming to view your blog makes me so happy!
I am so immensely happy for you! You are going to be an amazing mother, and you truly deserve this moment!
I hope we hear more good news from you, and get you continue to post your beautiful stories, pictures, and inspirational projects!
God Bless you and your NEW Family :)

Alicia (& Andy),
I meant to mention this yesterday, though perhaps you've already heard of this?
"There is an ancient Chinese belief stating that when a child is born an invisible red thread connects the child's soul to all those people - present and in the future - who will play a part in the child's life. As each birthday passes, those threads shorten and tighten, bringing closer those people who are fated to be together." Your red thread is getting shorter.
PS: I'm sure your happiness is at least in part because of all that wonderful Olympic skating...
