Thank you very sincerely to anyone who has been patient with all the email problems I've been having. As one problem has gotten solved, another problem has cropped up, but I am hopeful that all will be well soon. Right now it appears that all email going to aliciaATaliciapaulsonDOTcom IS actually getting to me, though anyone sending mail to that address will also receive an error message. But I've been assured that this is temporary, and will be corrected soon. Enough of that! I HOPE.
I have been so busy working on a million things that I haven't had a moment to relax, but I can't wait until I do. I do not do well when I have to be this busy. My voice rises to a fever pitch and starts worrying any animals and small children who happen to be in the vicinity of my conversations. I went in and looked at my fabric stacks longingly this afternoon, and that was fun for a few moments, especially when I noticed that I had some room at the top of those shelves. Happy sigh. I truly love having just the right amount of empty shelf space — I keep it like that, so there is always room to accomodate things when inspiration hits. I don't like it when everything is all filled up.
My mom and I took a mini-break and went to the mall for lunch today and I bought a new duvet cover because I have wanting one for about five or six years now and just couldn't find the one I wanted. Who knew they made Liberty duvet covers? I didn't. I thought it was darling. I got that instead of the mountain-house dress. Both so cozy, it was hard to decide, though I have historically chosen bedlinen over clothes. I think I was the only 7th grader I knew who spent her allowance on sheets.

I love that duvet cover. I so wish they made the PBKids stuff in king size. :( I hope we get to see the bed all made up.

Oh wow, I don't even sew and just looking at your stacks of fabric are inspiring! They seem so random and so organized all at the same time. Love the colors.

Lovely photo of your stash! Thank you for sharing!

That's funny, but I suppose if you got tired of the sheets, you could always make a dress. Aren't you the clever one. Blessings, Janet

haha you sound similar to my mom--i'm pretty sure she's the only 7th grader i've ever heard of that begged her mom to let her refinish the buffet in the dining room. what the hell?

A boy I was totally MAD for in high school (and college and beyond, but whatever... that's beside the point) bought me the sweetest Monet-inspired duvet cover and sheet set for my 18th birthday. One of my best presents ever. I still have it...

Every time I walk into the studio to hurridly iron something to wear, I too, look longingly at my sewing desk with TWO projects set upon just...waiting. And my stacks of fabric and YARN...all just waiting and waiting. All summer long I told myself that I was going in there to spend a blissful day or two or three, but NEVER did. It's sad how neglected my projects are lately.

That duvet cover is gorgeous indeed. And your stash.. wow. Do you mind if I stay and drool for a bit? ;-)

You made me laugh when you said you were the only 7th grader you knew who saved to buy sheets. You are not alone! I would save my babysitting money to purchase vintage hankies and linens and one year I saved for almost 2 months to buy the coziest flannel Christmas sheets for my bed, happiness. Can't wait to receive my felt ornament kit, they look absolutely adorable!

Yummy duvet cover, and I can completely relate to the joy to be obtained from a cozy bed! I found a delicious king size duvet cover some years ago at our Goodwill, which appeared to be brand new. It was patched in pretty pink and blue prints, with a ruffle (which usually improves things, in my mind), and when I looked at the tag, I realized why I'd been drawn to it. It was by Rachel Ashwell, whose fabrics I love almost as much as my life-long love affair with Liberty fabrics! A sewing friend says, give me Liberty or give me death. Then there are Key West fabrics, Cath Kidston, Kaffe Fasset.... Mmmmm, time to run home and sew, sew, sew!

That duvet cover is precious! Clothes are great and all, but bedding you get to enjoy every day, right? I love climbing into my bed at night since I bought a new comforter too.

Oh how I love varied colors of fabric stacked in piles! Great choice on the duvet cover!

Oh! I love that duvet cover! It looks like dianthus? So pretty. And I loved linens as a teenager too :)

Worth the wait.
I can get much more excited about linens than clothes for me... if only I looked good in a duvet cover!

When I get busy I get that fever-pitch voice too. My husband calls it my "monkey howler" voice....as in "Don't get all monkey howler on me!"

That duvet cover is so pretty . Isn't great when you find the thing that is "just right". It's always worth the wait.

Well, now you know another who spent her allowance on bed linens. I was known to save and save for just the right set...I still love a beautifully made bed!!

Hi Alicia,
Oh, how cute...that duvet is so you! I just got a new duvet cover & shams with Target gift cards I got for my birthday. Thomas O'Brien (Rich Simplicity), they were put on clearance almost 75% off! I was SOOOOO excited! They are a light gold satiny, paisley print texture. SO luxurious and beautiful. I got the King size duvet for $19.98, and the shams for $4.98, a STEAL :). I had money left on my gift cards to buy gold sconces to match. Fall is a cozy, wonderful time to buy a duvet! Enjoy yours...:)
