When you are forced to leave your vent because you've finished sewing the quilt top and now it's time to make the quilt sandwich, and you've moved some furniture and thrown the 102"-wide muslin fabric you got for the backing on the floor, and then you leave the room for five seconds to go get the masking tape so that you can tape the muslin down, and you come back to someone giving you a long-suffering look, which seems to say
"Why are you making me lie here on this fabric like this?"
then you must have a corgi.
If you leave your vent and spend two hours crawling around on your knees pinning the quilt sandwich together, and then spend eight hours stitching the quilt together, and then you want to sit down in the comfy chair and take all the safety pins out but as soon as you sit down you realize you need to get up and go get the bowl in which to put the pins, and you come back five seconds later to someone lying on your quilt in what seems like an uncomfortable position, as if to say
"Why the heck are there a whole bunch of pins in this nice blanket?"
.
.
.
.
.
then you must have a corgi. Corgis are common sewing challenges I can't help you with. I'm sorry.
(Finished-quilt photos and info TK next week. :-)

What a wonderful dog... The eyes tell the whole story, don't they?

Funny, Australian Shepherds present the same sewing challenging--must be those herding breeds...

NO kidding Corgis are quilting challenges. Mine has frequently stolen a piece of the quilt, that I then have to go find in his hidy spot. Then too, my parrot has been known to rearrange the block more to his liking. I think I need a pet free sewing room, maybe you do to?

the 2 of you are as cute as the day is long! And when Andy is around, make that three.

Thankfully, she is as as cute as she is common!

She is so cute =)I'm her fan!
I have similar sewing challenges at home! My dog looks like her, he's always following me and trying to "help"..ehehe And I love =)

ew, my cat did that when i made the curtains for the living room. most expensive fabric purchase of my life and i had an orange and white tabby rolling all over it like it was his birthday. i said OH HELL NO and yelled a lot. you usually tie yr quilts, don't you? i was being cheap and got impossible to quilt poly batting (i tried. epic failure) fr a baby quilt and was forced to tie it. i hate it, but i surrendered. the concept of machine quilting a queen-sized quilt on my regular-ass home sewing machine allures and frightens me all at the same time....

I'm surprised the cats didn't join her. She must have chased them off. My cat thought that taking up quilting was the best thing my mother ever did besides marrying a man who liked sardines.

My dog does the same thing! If I'm working on it, he has to lay on it the first chance he gets. It's so cute--except for the dog hair he leaves behind, lol.

I LOVE that quilt, and wish I could make one! Alas, no sewing talent... although I'm seriously considering taking it up now after your last few posts.
My kitties have to be in the middle of my scrapbooking...and my petite little Annie likes to lick the pictures, which seriously messes with the appearance. In that famous 5 second absence, I'm almost guaranteed to find her tasting at least one picture!

What type of batting do you use in your quilts? And what do you tie them with - buttonhole twist?

haha i love this!! that first face really DOES look like you've PUT her there & she can't possibly understand why. i love the animals in our lives.

So are ragdoll kitties...Jasmine said her cat dives into the laundry..HA! Mine fight for who get IN the dryer first. They lay ont he clothes and I pull one out at a time and fold. hence everything covered in cat fur all the time!

Oh my...that clover meadow is something!
Posted by: Elizabeth | July 31, 2009 at 11:54 AM
You could have a kitty as well. Although they seem to be saying "Why are you looking at me like that? I know as well as you do that you put this here specifically for me!"

HA! My girl Dottie does the same thing. I have a feeling that Dottie and Clover Meadow would be very good snuggle buddies.

or a german shepherd... mine does this as well.

Oh what a cute little clover meadow muffin!! Hey, I know two beagles and a silly basset hound that do that, too!! Happy Weekend to you all at casa de clover meadow!

I can't believe you made a WHOLE QUILT IN TWO DAYS! You are like a super hero of crafting!
I think the pup needs her own vent.

HA HA! Love Clover Meadow's pained thoughts. Our dog is part Corgi (at least we think she is--she definitely has the Corgi legs and face) and always has to be right where you're working. The quilt looks beautiful!

I used to have a cat who, if left alone with my threaded sewing machine, would chew through the thread, up by the spool, and swallow as much as she could before I came back into the room. I would find her laying across the room from the sewing machine with the thread leading from it to her mouth, looking at me as if to say, "why did you make me swallow all this thread?". It actually only took a couple such incidents before I started remembering to cover my machine when I left the room. She was on permanent suicide watch.

Around here the dogs know better than to mess with fabricy items but it's the children that want to take off with my finished objects before I have a chance to weave in ends, clip threads or press.

I do not have a corgi. I do have a hundred pound mastiff-sharpei mix, though. Once, I took the cover off his bed for washing and propped the bed (which is like egg-crate foam) against the wall. I came back from the laundry room to find Jesse curled up on the tiny corner of bed that was actually resting on the floor. He just gave me that look: "I liked my bed better when it was flat on the floor". I think Jess and Miss Clover Meadow would get along swimmingly.

I have a rottweiler and I have the exact same challenges! She loves to lay on anything I'm working on. I think she feels like she's my partner and her job is to lay on everything and get shooed (sp??) off.
