I love the surveying the acres pose he achieved so perfectly. Both the garden now and then are very pretty - picturebook plots. Good luck with your crops this year. It almost makes me rethink my herbs only approach - but perhaps I'll just get their bed a nice little edging.

Meghan

Oh, how cute. I'm planting my peas outside today, pretty risky as I'm in Anchorage, but if it works out I'll be eating peas in a month and a half. Yay!

Shari

Hey, it's the new American Gothic look! Instead of an old Iowa guy with bibs and a suit coat holding a pitchfork, it's a handsome young Montana man with a ball cap, shorts and sandals holding a garden rake and looking away . . . dreaming of chickens and fruit trees, perhaps?

Love this picture! All it needs is you there beside him - but I guess you were snapping the picture, huh?

Good luck with your gardening - so good for the soul, it is!

Carla (from Alabama)

Your gardens give me hope. I have always thought I needed a lot of space to plant a garden. The ones you have here look like they would be fun and for two people (myself and my husband) I would think it would produce enough vegetables. Don't know why I had never thought of it before.

You have created a very pretty place to garden; I doubt that mine would look so good.

What a sweet photo. This reminds me to get started on my herb garden.

CityGirl

Cute!

I'm planting tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, basil, dill and marjoram today. Woo-hoo!

Arid?!?!?! You want to see arid, you need to come farther southwest! Montana looks pretty lush to me! And your black soil--wow, serious garden envy here!

Erin Vale

Boy you guys have come a long way! My husband is a green thumb and I showed him pics from your website. Let's just say he turned green with envy... :) He is going to use it as inspiration for our yard!

Emily

Love the pose. He makes gardening look GOOD. :)

Angielala

Very cute! And it's not the size of the garden that counts, it's what you do with it :-) Seriously, it's just good when even a small garden gets planted because I really believe every garden makes a difference.

But I am surprised that he's not wearing a plaid shirt, LOL!

Amanda

That's a really good picture of Andy. It looks like it was for a magazine!

Wonders Never Cease

You need to be standing beside him, pitchfork in hand!

Lindy

OMG look at him NOT wearing a plain shirt!! LOL when did his PS addiction begin?

Lindy

eeer that should say PLAID. wish we could edit comments!!

Lisa Martin

NO plaid shirt! I see Lindy beat me to that comment though! Lol

Buttercup

Andy's always fun to look at! I'm loving the gardening blogs - we're just getting ramped up here in the midwest and looking forward to the season.

Cameron

Rachel B.

Oh my word! He's not wearing plaid!!!

Claire

i mean... i feel like this could be the front of one of those greeting cards with the vintage photos on the front and one of those smartass comments inside.

not sure what the smartass comment would be, but im loving the garden rake pose!

Alice C

No plaid shirt! I was worried that it might not be the same Andy but I looked a bit closer and realised that he still has the same hat so I can relax.

Mariss

How adorable! What great memories you guys have :)

Carlie

That's a drool worthy photograph. On many levels.
