Camellia japonica 'Ave Maria' and Nicole's earrings
Just wanted to let you know that Andy and I are still reading the comments from the other day, but our day (his day off) has gotten crazy busy so I think we'll take the weekend to finish them all and post our faves on Monday (CARPET DAY). Thank you again for sharing them! So good to be reminded how much love (and humor) is out there in the world. xo

oh boy, we don't have any funny engagement stories, but we've been happily married for more than two decades and that wouldn't be possible without a sense of humor. for one thing, we both look pretty scary first thing in the morning ;).
have a wonderful weekend ... good luck with the carpeting!

Can't wait to see who your favorites are. How exciting getting new carpeting. Your house will feel new. New carpet smell.

That is the MOST GORGEEOUS picture! The camellia is very well named as "Ave Maria", huh? Just gorgeous. Have a great weekend and good luck on Monday :)

OK, so.... because I love you, and am such a fan of yours, and am a pastry chef, and love your sour cream apple pie recipe, and make it all the time....I HAVE TO TELL YOU that....
Right now, I am at the Ritz Carlton in Phoenix, and have just ordered room service.
And their "new signature" dessert is a miniature "sour cream apple pie".
And I just ate it. And it's somewhat delicious....but no comparison.
Just had to tell you.

Looking forward to reading about them. I've read some, and they're great!!
Enjoy your weekend!

Oh, how lovely! Such beautiful color! It reminds me of growing up in California and how my uncle would send my sister and I each home with a gardenia. We would put them in a shallow bowl near the open window so when the wind blew we could smell them even when we slept at night!

I vote for the story about "doodle gate"...that lady whose hubby's weiner was exposed during the proposal and later she hugged the puppy he accidentally peed on. Hil-flippin-larious!
Speaking of reading, I just finished "Gardens in the Dunes" by Leslie Marmon Silko. You are probably still working your way through the last list of books, but I highly recommend this one.

I love the picture! I float my camellias in water as well, I like to add a couple of drops of glycerin to keep the color fresh and the flower longer.

Hi there! Just had a lovely afternoon browsing your blog and decided to order your book! I can't wait for it to arrive in the post; it's such an unusual and original idea for a book. Very inspiring. Best wishes.

It wouldnt let me post yesterday, but Wow, that photograph is so beautiful, it's ridiculous. The earrings just set it off.

Did you take that flower photo? It is just fabulous. Flowers are like little miracles.

My heart just leapt when I saw that Camellia - the favorite flower of my childhood. Now I live too far north to grow them and every winter/spring I just long to go outside and cut a few beautiful blossoms to bring in the house. Thank you for sharing that bit of loveliness. It's really appreciated here right now where only the leaf nubs of spring flowers are beginning to push up through the dirt.

I just found your blog - and am e-v-e-r so glad I did!!!! Humor is a blessing God gave us to help us through life - and I am enjoying how you so honestly share your life via it. The surprise B-day party you talked about in your engagement proposal story, sounds like it should be a scene out of an extremely funny movie!!! :-D I'm also looking forward to reading all of the stories others shared with you.

Such a beautiful picture! It makes me yearn for spring, and reminds me that it is such a gift to have fresh flowers in the house.

hope CARPET DAY goes well....we are all waiting to see pics of the carpet....the problem with new carpeting is the SMELL so have LOTS of flowers available to mask the odor.........

Love your camelia pic! They're blooms are so perfect. I used to have a Mrs. Tingley (camelia) in CA, and waited to plant her until we moved into the house I thought we'd live in forever. Then we moved. I miss her still!
