Drip drip drop. The coffee drips through its little one-serving filter. I think it took about twenty minutes but it was worth every tiny splash. Very, very strong — good to have around 2:30 p.m., when I routinely consider putting my head down on the keyboard. But I finished all the entries and am well on my way to completing my tax-ing chores. Yippee.
Isn't that pretty? When all the coffee drips in (about another two inches) you stir it all up, then add ice. It'll keep you awake through several hundred Quicken entries, and you'll probably even have energy left to make a few more granny squares.

Verrrry interesting. I'm not a coffee girl (except in ice cream or desserts). My husband would be fascinated, though. I think I'll go impress him by mentioning it.
Good Luck with the rest of them tax entries. May it all be effortless from here on out :)

I am not a coffee drinker but that looks good! But then again, ANYTHING with condensed milk would be okay in my book!

Alicia,
Your photos are so beautiful you can make a cup of coffee an event! Care to share what kind of camera you use?

I sure could use a cup of that delicious looking coffee right now. I am alone at work and the skies are gray no wonder I feel so slow today. Your granny squares are lovely. It is my goal to learn to crochet this summer.

i'm not a big coffee drinker, but I often order the Vietnamese coffee. I just love condensed milk - used to pour it on toast as a kid!

We have an awesome little Vietnamese restaurant they make the BEST iced coffee! I am super excited though to try and make my own. Thanks for making me crave one now!

Looks delicious...kind of a departure from ripple knitting, which demands laying in bed/couch! I wonder if my French press will make strong enough coffee?

Ooh! That coffee totally reminds me of my trip to Vietnam 11 years ago. It was wonderful to sit out at a sidewalk cafe in Saigon and wait for the coffee to drip drip drip down!

Alicia, you have me totally hooked. [sorry, couldn't resist.] Thanks first to your ripple blanket and now to these unbelievably sweet granny squares, I finally went out and got my first crochet book a few nights ago and am determined to learn how to hook. I want to make a granny square blanket! I must make a granny square blanket! Of course, I have a lot to learn first. So for now, I just come over here and gaze lustfully at your pictures.

I, too, am going to start a ripple afghan AND a granny square one- did you already know how to crochet when you started this?

When I was in Europe last year, I saw them make coffee that way, except they would then mix the coffee and milk with an electric mixer for a few seconds and it made it nice and frothy! Something to experiment with?

You're really making a dent in the granny squares! (or is that just trick photography?) :)

Gosh, I love this turkish blue colour of your plate!
Posted by: Hanne | March 14, 2007 at 12:13 PM
ok that's it. I can't take it anymore. I'm going to make a coffee like that right now. It just looks too good. Love those squares too!

Thanks so much for the link to the coffee tutorial. I ran out this morning, bought the filter, coffee and condensed milk at a local Asian grocery, and made not one, but TWO servings for myself. YUM!

I have got to try that coffee (anything to cut back on the naps!). Hope your taxes go smoothly & you can get them done quickly & never think about them again (soon!).

Congrats on your Quicken entries... and I cannot wait to see your Granny Square afghan. That is going to be awesome!

I swear Alicia, you could post and take pictures of your 'compost heap' and we'd all start composting. Your writing, your photos just make me want to go for it, try it, take a chance, experiment, believe, desire, think outside the box, mix it up, sit back, feel, indulge...
Thanks for taking me along on your journey... and inspiring me to see that there is so much more for me to yet discover about myself.
